What do you do when the house is already gorgeous, but doesn’t quite feel like you?
Our longtime clients weren’t planning to move. In fact, we’d added an entire second story to their previous home just a few years ago. But then this house came along: nearly 5,700 square feet on a beautiful corner lot, with soaring ceilings, herringbone floors, oversized windows, incredible views, and enough architectural character to make it impossible for them to say no.

The bones were already beautiful. Our job was to shift the personality. We traded the previous home’s lighter, more feminine feel for something warmer, moodier, more grounded, and a little more masculine. No sledghammers; we used paint, wallpaper, custom built-ins, art, and a whole lot of furniture to get there.

And while we were furnishing a lot of square footage at once, we didn’t want it to feel that way. Pieces from their previous home mixed with furniture inherited with this one. New pieces were layered in alongside them, giving us the kind of collected character that usually takes years to build.

The result is relaxed and personal, unfussy, but with a few unexpected show stopping moments along the way. An already-gorgeous house, now more personal, and unmistakably theirs.
