This project is a bit different.
Typically, when we partner with a client, we are designing and furnishing their primary home ; a single structure. Sister Grove Farm is more than one building. It’s an ecosystem of structures on 149 acres of back land prairie. We’ve helped them restore their pre-civil war farmhouse, built several more structures to serve friends and family, even helped them build out their brand and website to share their mission of regenerative farming, and most recently completed the build out of our client’s family home to finish out the property.

THE BIG HOUSE

After 5 years of planning (and many more of dreaming), our client's Forever Home is complete. While we are still waiting for furniture, finishing touches, and landscaping, we just couldn't wait to share this beautiful home.
This house is full of incredible details - wall paneling, vintage style hardware and light fixtures, and salvaged heirloom items from past family homes. It is completely unique to our homeowners; it's a relaxed "take off your boots and put up your feet" meets a refined, beautiful home.

THE LITTLE HOUSE
THE LITTLE HOUSE | HISTORICAL RESTORATION + HOME FURNISHING
This is where it all began. For centuries, families in the Wichita or Kitikiti'sh tribes called this area home. Later this land was owned by Collin McKinney, the oldest signer of the Texas Declaration of The Little House for his family in 1859. The house was in major disrepair after being unoccupied for decades. Partnering with Architexas we thoughtfully restored the farmhouse, keeping some of its original charm and infusing modern touches and amenities (like indoor plumbing!). After the extensive restoration, the house now serves as the primary residence for our clients as we await completion of The Main House.

THE BUNKHOUSES
THE BUNKHOUSES | NEW CONSTRUCTION + HOME FURNISHING
One of the key missions of Sister Grove is to bring people together in community. The bunkhouses are 2 structures containing 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms each and can hold a crowd. The exterior of the structures have similar design features as the little house, with gabled rooflines and metal roofs. On the interior, we took a more modern turn, bringing in a natural Scandinavian design influence. The furnishings are flexible and modular, allowing the living space to be reconfigured to meet the needs of different groups. The vibe is relaxed, natural, and inviting.

THE PAVILION
THE PAVILION| NEW CONSTRUCTION + HOME FURNISHING
With all of these people now sleeping at the farm, we’re going to need to feed them. That’s where The Pavilion comes in. This full service commercial-style kitchen can feed a hungry group. The furnishings in the main open space are flexible to accommodate anything from a farming workshop, to Supper Church, to a wedding reception.
Just outside the Pavilion is the Dining Terrace with string lights stretched over a (future) outdoor dining area, flanked on either side by the cutest storage shed and greenhouse you ever did see.

BRANDING + WEBSITE DESIGN
Probably not what pops to mind when you think of TLD, but it’s a side-passion of ours to help other small businesses thrive. In this day and age that means having a brand that accurately represents to the world what you’re all about, and a corner of the internet to call home.
Sister Grove’s brand is natural, anchored in the colors of the big Texas sky, green prairie land, and rich soil. The photography, typefaces, logo, and site were designed to be approachable, natural, and welcoming. In addition to the website we created business cards infused with seeds that can be planted, a podcast graphic for their Farm Discipleship Podcast, and much more.
